Another Letter From Robert

Dear Shannon,
Thank you very much for the wonderful package. I am so amazed at how supportive you and all of baking galls have been. Everyone I work with has enjoyed everything that has been sent. Our flight has been well taken care of by all of you. It is amazing how so many people are reaching out to me, a complete stranger. It is a blessing to have people like you helping out everyone here. Everyone That I work with asked that you thank Baking Galls on all of our behalf. It has made the time here better, and brought up the spirits around work. I wish you could see all of the smiles every time I bring a package into our break room, it is like seeing kids on Christmas morning. I am sorry, but, I do not have a picture to send. Roseanne might be able to get you one. I will ask her the next chance that I get. I cannot say much about what I am doing here, or where I am. I can tell you that I am in a very safe location, and we are well supplied here. Home baked goods are about the only thing we cannot get on base here. As you know my name is Robert Grier. I have been in the Air Force since 2005. I am a Senior Airman stationed at Dyess AFB Texas. I work Munitions Systems Technology, (we just call it ammo). I have been working ammo since I joined the military, but, it is not my job over here. Ammo builds, maintains, tests, inspects and delivers all of the Air Force bombs and ammunition. I am 23 and married with 2 kids. My wife’s name is Jeanette, and my son’s names are; Leon he is 2, and Ash he is going to be 1 in November. Thank you again for taking the time to reach out to me and everyone over here. It is a blessing to have all of the girls of Fire and Icing letting us know that they care. It is something that I will never forget.

Dear Julie and Bruce,
I cannot explain to you how much it means to me what you are doing for us here. I am amazed at how many people have gone out of their way to do something nice for a complete stranger. Thank you so very much for all of the cookies and the nice letter. All of you from Baking Galls are angles. I never expected this kind of support and appreciation. You are doing a wonderful service to everyone here. My section is so well stocked with treats now that it looks like a bakery. A little bite of home helps everyone here cope with this situation. It is a nice break from all of the chow hall food. I have been in the Air Force since 2005. I work ammo at Dyess AFB in Texas. I cannot tell you much about where I am now and what I am doing, but, I am quite safe. I am lucky to have gone to a base in the middle east with many luxuries. We are well taken care of here, and a long way from the front lines. What did your son do in the Air Force? What rank did he leave at? Thank you again for everything. This has all been quite a pleasant experience. You are doing more for us than you will ever know.

The First Response

I recieved an e-mail from Robert's sister, Rose the other day. It really touched my heart:

Shannon,
My brother called the other day just amazed and excited. He said he got like 5 different packeges of goodies and letters from kids. He was so grateful to everyone who sent him stuff. He is gonna write letters back to the kids who he got stuff from and wanted me to tell you thankyou so much and that he was really touched by their gifts. He wrote an email to a lady whos name was in the packages. He told me tell to you personnaly that he loved it. It was awesome hearing how happy he was to get them. Thank you for your kindness and all you do.

Welcome!!

Hello to all of my "Fire and Icing" team members! As I mentioned in the email, this blog is set to private so only people that are invited may see the blog. I am hoping that as we get responses from the people we send to, I will have the chance to post them for all of you to see. It is a great reminder of why we are doing this!
